Perhaps the greatest things that has happened to me by being part of this amazing Joomla! community is that I have met so many people from all over the world.
Of course I'm not alone in that and probably every one of you reading this blog will have made new friends as a result of your involvement in Joomla!
But making online friends is only the start of it.
All across the world there are opportunities to meetup with fellow Joomla users and no matter how good skype, twitter and forums are nothing meets a face-to-face meeting.
There is something special about sitting down over a beer or coffee - it's only then that you can really get to know people.
Tonight I leave for the USA to visit the Milwaukee JUG and to speak at Joomla!Day in Washington DC but you don't have to travel that far.
There are Joomla User Groups (JUGs) all over the world and many JoomlaDay events taking place in the coming weeks and months.
I've been lucky in that I've been able to meetup in "meatspace" with Joomla users in Thailand, Australia, USA, Germany, Greece, The Netherlands, Italy and of course across the UK and it's always great to put a face to an avatar or forum nickname.
I plan to continue that and travel to more places and meet more people in the coming year.
If you see me at an event don't be shy - I won't bite your head off (I promise) come up and say hello.
