Mister Men
The Joomla Oompa Loompa
It's a busy time in the Joomla! event calendar right now and I'm busy preparing to make two presentations at Joomla!Days in The Netherlands
and if accepted another presentation at J & Beyond
.
I probably made a rod for my own back with last years Hidden Secrets presentation as I have a lot to live up to this year.
I considered making a "Hidden Secrets Part 2" but in the end settled on "What's in a name".
Hopefully I'll be able to explain where the name Joomla! comes from, what it could have been instead, why we have the ! at the end and some lessons learnt that might help you choosing a name for your company, product or child.

Just a quick post to see if anyone is still listening.
I've been pretty quiet on the blogging front in recent weeks for several reasons.
Firstly I wanted to see how a few things shaped up and give them an opportunity to run their course.
Secondly I've had a monster month of client training, introducing just under 150 corporate suits and government lackies to the world of Joomla!
And thirdly I've been working hard preparing two new presentations for Joomladays.nl
and J & Beyond
.
Joomla Community Xmas Carol
I've been trying to think of a light hearted and topical blog post for this time of year when I remembered a tweet requesting a Joomla Xmas Carol.
Below you will find "my" version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" and I've taken a few liberties with the numbers.
I'm sure you can do better either by offering an alternative line for this Carol or with your own Joomla Carol.
On the first day of Christmas,
my Joomla! gave to me

Blowing my own trumpet
Last night I was excited, honoured and suprised to win the ComputerWeekly.com Open Source Blog of the Year Award. But this isn't really an award for me it's an award for you.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for the blog, everyone who has given me inspiration for an article, Marc Ozin from ReformJudaism
for nominating me in the first place and two very special people.
The original idea for the blog came from Fotis Evangelou
who pestered me to start writing until it was easier for me to start than it was to shut him up and Chris Marinou
who is the brains and talent behind the template design. Without the two of them this blog this blog would never have happened.
IT Blog Awards 2009: Open Source
It doesn't happen often, in fact I think it has only happened once before, but right now I am absolutely speechless and still scraping my jaw off the floor as I simultaneously scrape my head off the ceiling.
In fact it's such a rare event for me to be speechless that it's probably worth making a note in your diaries.
This blog has been shortlisted by ComputerWeekly.com for the award for the Open Source in Business category in the IT Blog Awards.
Add a commentToday at last I have the answer
Today after a very long time of waiting I've finally reached the age where I have the answer and I'm happy to say that Douglas Adams was correct it really is 42.
So for those of you that are still waiting I'd like to tell you that it really is true and life really is that simple.

After sleeping on it for a few days and reading your many kind comments, tweets and emails I've decide that I will continue writing the blog after all.

Still deciding but right now I'm seriously considering closing this blog and taking it offline.
I really wanted to be writing a good news blog today/tonight but ...
Add a commentI am joomla, hear me roar
I was getting my mp3 player ready for my summer holiday today, yes a very late summer holiday, when I heard a favourite old song by Helen Reddy from the 70's.
Somehow it just seemed to be very appropriate if you change just one word.
