One of my favourite daily reads Smashing Magazine have expanded their Developers Toolbox series with a new one on joomla.

It's a pretty all-inclusive collection of links to resources, tutorials and resources.

"Not a lot of people know this" but in 1990 I was lucky enough to be filmed as an extra in Star Trek.

Whilst I was a fan of the show I wouldn't go as far to say I was an addict, still it was fun to get the full Hollywood special effects make-up treatment.

Sadly we weren't allow to take photographs and even I can't recognise myself in the relevant episode.

But the event always stayed in my mind so when the push to "internationalise" joomla began I purchased a Klingon-English dictionary so that joomla would not only be available in every language on earth but in every known language.

I've always said that once you start using joomla it's like a highly addictive drug that is impossible to let go.

So when I stumbled upon this unattributed chart comparing drug dealers and geeks I just had to produce a joomla version.

A few questions that I need to know
How you could ever hurt me so
I need to know what I've done wrong
And how long it's been going on
Was it that I never paid enough attention
Or did I not give enough affection
Not only will your answers keep me sane
But I'll know never to make the same mistake again

Or even on the phone

I am not a parent so I can't claim to be an expert on parenting. But if you record every word your mother ever says to you in your lifetime it can probably be condensed into this 3 minute song. This is the dad's version, sorry but the mom's version doesn't seem to be online anymore

How often do you check your computer for virus infection and have you ensured your anti-virus software is up to  date?

Today the "world renowned" London hospital – St Bartholomew’s (Barts) in the City, was brought to a standstill after a computer virus infected the network and technicians were forced to shutdown the network for immediate disinfection.

My nephew came home from school on friday and asked what was a geek. I tried to explain to him that there were many types of geeks. Some of which I would be happy to be associated with, others I'd run a mile from.

Trying to illustrate my point to him I googled and stumbled across the amazing work of Scott Johnson, creator and artist for ExtraLife.

As a skilled artists and cartoonist he has identified 56 different types of geeks and created a poster of them all. You can even commision him to create a new geek type just for you.

What type of geek are you? Or what geek-type did Scott miss.

If the world was run by Microsoft, Hollywood would be making movies like this.

My birthday is November 1st, and it's always been fun to keep a track of famous events that happened on that day. This year I can add the end of the Microsoft Windows 3.11 to that list.

After 15 years you might have expected the first successful GUI for non Apple users to have quietly passed away some time ago.

It's true you really can make money with Free software. Dutch Python developer Stani Michiels has won a competition to design a 5 euro commemorative coin with the theme 'Netherlands and Architecture'.

So the next time a colleague or friend tells you that you can't make money just flip this 5 Euro coin at them.
