The Joomla World Cup

joomla world cup site

As the world prepares for a four week onslaught of football (sorry my American friends but it is football not soccer and this is a world championship that includes countries other than the USA) I thought it would be time for a bit if fun.

Each day during the World Cup I will feature a prominent joomla powered website from each competing nation as they win a game. So once again sorry USA I guess I won't be looking for any sites on the other side of the Atlantic.

With luck the sites featured will all help to inspire you with what can be achieved with joomla. Either by the design and content of the site or by the targeted user. I'm sick of hearing that joomla is only good for a certain type of site or a certain sector of the market place.

Of course if Italy win all of their games then I could easily just publish the site of one of their many professional football teams who run joomla but that would be too easy so here they are anyway, (thanks to Ole Ottosen for the list).

Serie A

Serie B

Have fun watching the World Cup and remember the words of the legendary Liverpool manager, Bill Shankly.

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

About Brian Teeman

  • As a co-founder of Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc I've never been known to be lacking an opinion or being too afraid to express it.

Despite what some people might think I'm a shy and modest man who doesnt like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements.

But it seems that no blog exists without an "About" page so rather than talk about what an amazingly great guy I am and list all the things I've achieved (and failed at) in life from my Cycling Proficiency Test in 1976 to winning an award for the "UK Individual Contribution to Open / Source" in 2005 here are some links.
