The Joomla World Cup - South Africa - Johannesburg

What could be a more appropriate Joomla! powered web site for the World Cup than that of the City of Johannesburg.

Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and one of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the world.

On the 11th July Jo'burg will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup final at the Soccer City stadium.

This was the first site that I prepared for this series of blog posts but I never expected to have to wait for this long to post it.

I'm not certain but I stringly suspect that this is the largest city in the world to use Joomla as it's official portal.

(If you know of a larger one please let me know)

For the duration of the World Cup this web site will be especialy busy as tourists search for things to do other than watching the football.

It's actualy several joomla web sites, a mix of 1.0 and 1.5, that are seemlessly stitched together to provide a single source for residents, tourists and investors. See the Arts, Culture and Hertiage web site.

This blog post is part of a series during the World Cup aiming to highlight the wide spread of joomla across the world.

About Brian Teeman

  • As a co-founder of Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc I've never been known to be lacking an opinion or being too afraid to express it.

Despite what some people might think I'm a shy and modest man who doesnt like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements.

But it seems that no blog exists without an "About" page so rather than talk about what an amazingly great guy I am and list all the things I've achieved (and failed at) in life from my Cycling Proficiency Test in 1976 to winning an award for the "UK Individual Contribution to Open / Source" in 2005 here are some links.
