The Joomla World Cup - Greece - Ministry of Education

We all know that two of the greatest Joomla extension developers are in Greece.

There can hardly be a Joomla web site developer that has not heard of Akeeba Backup or K2 from JoomlaWorks.

But let's not forget that one half of the Community Builder team are also in Athens.

Maybe there is something in the water of the "Home of Democracy" that makes such great Joomla developers or perhaps it's the quality of the education.

Recently the Greek Ministry of Education, Lifeling Learning and Religious Affairs launched their own Joomla powered portal.

One of the aims of the web site is to promote the new education policy of "Public, free and quality education for all" starting from the youngest pupil first and working up to the University student.

Of particular interest to some of you will be that the web site actually publishes the National Examinations for High School and Technical Colleges.

There wasn't a game today so I've selected a web site from Greece, who haven't featured yet.

This blog post is part of a series during the World Cup aiming to highlight the wide spread of joomla across the world.

About Brian Teeman

  • As a co-founder of Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc I've never been known to be lacking an opinion or being too afraid to express it.

Despite what some people might think I'm a shy and modest man who doesnt like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements.

But it seems that no blog exists without an "About" page so rather than talk about what an amazingly great guy I am and list all the things I've achieved (and failed at) in life from my Cycling Proficiency Test in 1976 to winning an award for the "UK Individual Contribution to Open / Source" in 2005 here are some links.
