Côte d’Ivoire is a West African country often mistakenly still called The Ivory Coast.

Formerly part of the Federation of French West Africa the country achieved Independence in 1960.

Creating a widespread communications network in a country like Côte d’Ivoire is a challenge.

It's too slow and not economically viable to be done the old fashioned way by establishing a fixed line network.

Instead these rapidly developing countries are jumping directly to cellular communications.

This allows rapid expansion throughout the country without being restricted to the major population centres.

Comium has been present in Côte d’Ivoire since the summer of 2007, first as KoZ, and since May 2009 under “Comium” brand.

In less than 18 months of operations Comium now has almost 2.5 million customers, providing cover in 80% of the country, and is the fastest growing mobile communication provider in the country.

About Brian Teeman

  • As a co-founder of Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc I've never been known to be lacking an opinion or being too afraid to express it.

Despite what some people might think I'm a shy and modest man who doesnt like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements.

But it seems that no blog exists without an "About" page so rather than talk about what an amazingly great guy I am and list all the things I've achieved (and failed at) in life from my Cycling Proficiency Test in 1976 to winning an award for the "UK Individual Contribution to Open / Source" in 2005 here are some links.
