The Joomla World Cup - Argentina (AFA)

Written by Brian Teeman

joomla world cup - argentina - afaI had intended not to feature football web sites in this Joomla World Cup but on finding this site I just could not exclude it.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is the 'Governing Body' for football in Argentina.

In a country where football is a religion and not a game this site surely must be one of the most important in Argentina.

According to Alexa.com it is visited, more than the previous entry for Argentina in my Joomla World Cup, the Residencia of the President.

The AFA was founded in 1893 and was the first formal Football Association in South America and only the 8th in the World. It is responsible for the National team at all ages and the "Rules of the Game" for one of the consistantly top football nations.

The web site itself, in both Spanish and English, uses many well known Joomla extensions such as JCE and JCal Pro and a template, heavily modified, from Joomlashine.

The "hand of god" might have been needed for Argentina to beat England in the 1986 World Cup but the "hand of joomla" is used for the web site.

About Brian Teeman

  • As a co-founder of Joomla! and OpenSourceMatters Inc I've never been known to be lacking an opinion or being too afraid to express it.

Despite what some people might think I'm a shy and modest man who doesnt like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements.

But it seems that no blog exists without an "About" page so rather than talk about what an amazingly great guy I am and list all the things I've achieved (and failed at) in life from my Cycling Proficiency Test in 1976 to winning an award for the "UK Individual Contribution to Open / Source" in 2005 here are some links.
