As Japan had a notable victory today in the FIFA World Cup it is this Nation's turn to feature on the blog.
However I had a great deal of difficulty in finding many Joomla powered web sites in Japan. Perhaps this guest blog by Norito Hanji Yoshida will help to explain why.

{...}When I started this series of blog posts the aim was to showcase web sites from countries that win a match in the FIFA World Cup.
Whilst it is just a bit of fun I have tried to select sites based on their profile in the country and not necessarily the sites features or design.
Today the USA won a football match so I set out to find a site that for me really typified America.
Rightly or wrongly one of the first things that I think of when I think of the USA is "corporate greed"
{...}What could be a more appropriate Joomla! powered web site for the World Cup than that of the City of Johannesburg.
Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and one of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the world.
On the 11th July Jo'burg will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup final at the Soccer City stadium.

The Joomla World Cup - Argentina (AFA)
I had intended not to feature football web sites in this Joomla World Cup but on finding this site I just could not exclude it.
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is the 'Governing Body' for football in Argentina.
In a country where football is a religion and not a game this site surely must be one of the most important in Argentina.
{...}The Joomla World Cup - Chile
The Santiago Times has been Chile’s most important English language newspaper for the last 20 years.
With a "dead tree" print edition published five days a week, it's unlike some "english language" newspapers published in non-english countries as it actualy publishes real hard news and not "tourist" information.
{...}Initially I was disappointed that The Netherlands beat Denmark today in the World Cup as it looked like it was going to prevent me from writing this blog post.
I spotted the other day that the Danish web site for Best Western Hotels was powered by Joomla and I had this blog post all ready to publish until they lost.
Then I dug a little further and saw that the Dutch Best Western Hotel site was also Joomla.
