In the last few months there has been quite a lot of activity across the globe at various CMS showdowns. At these events teams of designers have competed against the clock to create a website using their chosen CMS.
But these have all really been design related and I think it would be great to have a similar competition amongst developers to create a specified Joomla extension.
With such a vibrant Joomla developer community producing some amazing extensions 
why shouldn't they get the opportunity to show off their skills in a similar competition.
To simplify matters slightly this competition, no prizes just honour, will be limited to extensions for Joomla 1.5.11.
This is not a competition to create just any extension you (and your team) will have to satisfy a set of criteria and functionality specifications that you will receive when the competition starts.
This competition will run in July and you (and your team) will have 96 hours from receiving the extension specifications to submit your entry.

Judging
I will put together a group of 5 people to rate the submissions and their decisions are final
The winning extension will be rated on the following criteria to achieve an overall score
- Ease of installation
- number of lines of code (the fewer the better) excluding documentation blocks
- ratio of documentation blocks to code blocks (the higher the better)
- Ease of use
- Documentation provided to allow a reasonably experienced joomla user to install, configure and run the extension
Criteria
The extension must satisfy the following
- Installation through the joomla installer
- MVC architecture allowing template overrides
- Support for multiple languages
- GPL (or compatible licence) and freely distributable with no cost
- Support for default joomla sef
- the specification document
I really do not want to stifle anyone's creativity so I have deliberately kept both the rules and the extension specifications to a bare minimum.
This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and talent.
