Over the next few weeks and months I will be following up the popular "5 minute interview" series with a new series of blog posts presenting Joomla sites to inspire you.

In the early days of Joomla, when I was browsing the web, I regularly stumbled upon a site and quickly realised it was "powered by joomla".

All the sites appeared to have a similar look and feel and there was little originality. Today, thankfully, things are much better and it is often quite a while before I realise the sites provenance.

In this new series I hope to present you with some Joomla sites I have found that are not the "norm".

Perhaps they will encourage you to think beyond the traditional site design and to be more original. Each of the sites has been chosen because of their originality in concept. They may not be high traffic sites or even from well known organisations, but they are all unique in some way.

I am not saying that I necessarily like the site or even find it's content interesting or relevant. I am saying that I applaud the creators ability not to be constrained and to "think outside the box".

For me one of the beauties of Joomla is that the time it saves in building a site and its content gives you more time to concentrate on the whole user experience.
