Joomla 1.5.11 released
A new version of the Joomla 1.5 series was released today, which is possibly the last release before 1.6. This is a minor security and bug fix release and you should ensure that you upgrade all your installations.
NOTE please check the FAQ
of known issues with 1.5.11 before upgrading
Its code name is "Vea" and so far the only reference to its meaning I can find is a Peurto Rican gossip amagazine.
You can download update packages at joomla.org
26 bug fixes, two moderate-level security fixes and one low-level security fix.
There are no Additions
As always thanks to everyone who submitted bugs (and fixes) and to the Joomla Bug Squad for testing and approving the fixes.
2. Changelog
------------
This is a non-exhaustive (but still near complete) changelog. Thanks to all those people who've contributed bug reports and code fixes.

5 Minute Interview
You may remember that on the now defunct Joomla Weekly News I ran a series of "5 Minute Interviews" with people in the joomla community and I now plan to resurrect this here.
Sometimes you can have seen a screen-name on a forum, twitter or skype for a long time but have you ever stopped to think if you really know the person behind the screen-name.
I plan on publishing one or two of these each week and I hope that you enjoy reading them.
Joomla is better than drupal...
... and Wordpress is better than both.
Back in January of this year I made the first call for votes in the annual Linux Journal
magazine Readers' Choice Awards.
The results are now in
and in what looks like a pretty close race Joomla came second.
Favorite Content Management System
WordPress (25%)
Honorable Mention
Joomla! (23%)
Drupal (19%)
No surprise that the blog publishing application WordPress once again wins the category Favorite Content Management System with 25% of the vote. In the Honorable Mention department, your same two favorite Web content managers, Joomla! and Drupal, are present only to flip in popularity. This year, Joomla! reached an impressive 23% to Drupal's 19%. Drupal got our vote—LinuxJournal.com runs on it.
Obviously any vote is subjective and in many ways has little substantive meaning but it's still nice to see.
