Blog

I'm sat on top of the world looking down on creation...

This week I am in Athens, Greece, with my portable joomla training suite, staying still in one place is just not my thing.

As well as visiting the historic sites of the Acropolis, where European culture began, I'm fortunate enough to be spending some time with some very talented joomla designers and developers.

On friday I blogged that the current state of the joomla svn was not in a testable state.

Well after a hiatus in activity there has been a renewed burst in activity over at joomlacode.org and I highly recommend that all developers for joomla check it out now and follow development.

I've got another new toy.

I was having a little trouble today to think of a blog post that would actually be interesting.

I was going to write about my experiences testing an SVN a copy of joomla I. 6 but the current state of the svn made that unproductive.

On January 22nd 2008 Joomla! 1.5 was first released to the world. It's hard to believe that joomla is now one year old.

It was a long time coming but for me at least the wait was worthwhile. Without the flexibility and power of 1.5 I would never have been able to produce complex sites like  www.reformjudaism.org.uk and www.mitzvahday.org.uk or this blog.

Is your admin interface in joomla secure?

Could you make it more secure?

Could Joomla itself force some extra security?

During CMSexpo many people were boring me to tears with how great twitter is.

At the time I'd never used it and really couldn't see it's purpose.

Then I found an excellent blog post "People in the Joomla Community using Twitter" so I thought I would give it a try.

It's an interesting question that I've been pondering over the last few weeks.

What is a joomla extension?

When does an extension become an application?

Just before the holidays I took part in an online survey and not a small one it must have taken nearly an hour to complete.

As a thank you the research company that carried out the survey sent me a $15 voucher to spend at amazon.com.

This was an unexpected surprise and I was really grateful. So I rushed off to my local amazon (.co.uk) to spend my voucher on a trashy novel.

joomla logoA new version of the Joomla 1.5 series was released today, which is possibly the last release before 1.6. This is a security and bug fix release and you should ensure that you upgrade all your installations.

Apologies to regular readers for the lack of updates this week but it's been a very interesting few days.

Almost all my work this week has in some way or other been in the security sphere.
