I am joomla hear me roarI was getting my mp3 player ready for my summer holiday today, yes a very late summer holiday, when I heard a favourite old song by Helen Reddy from the 70's.

Somehow it just seemed to be very appropriate if you change just one word.

Is it time for an International Joomla Event?

Attention: open in a new window. PDF | Print | E-mail Tue 29 Sep 09 15:48 Across the globe Brian Teeman

ticket for joomla dayWhilst I was travelling home from Joomla!Day Germany I started thinking about how long it was taking me and was the journey worthwhile. The answer was "not that long" and "yes definitely".

Then I started wondering if my journey was amongst the longest and I quickly realised that because I was flying and others even inside Germany were driving then it wasn't.

Can you tell where I'm going with this?

Where can I find Joomla?

Attention: open in a new window. PDF | Print | E-mail Tue 29 Sep 09 09:16 Across the globe Brian Teeman

where is joomla and joomldayI've just returned from a very successful Joomla!Day in Germany and had an amzing time.

I will be blogging more about the event and my experience in Germany in the next few days but before I do I should explain what a Joomla!Day is.

A Joomla!Day is something fairly unique to Joomla. Other Open Source projects have global conferences or organise gatherings around generic Open Source events such as LinuxTagLinuxTag. Joomla!Day is different as it is organised on a National or Regional basis.

Joomla!Day is something very close to my heart. I spoke at perhaps the first large gathering in what was then the Mambo Community in Bangkok and a few months later spoke at the first "MamboDay" event in Bonn, Germany, I then organised one of the very first Joomla!Days, in Leeds, UK.

why integrate joomla and wordpressOK, I admit it it, I just don't get why you would want to integrate these two applications.

I just can't see where the benefits are.

Intolerant Offspring

intolerant offspring - joomla site to inspire you(This is a guest post by Ken Crowder)

Having two kids with food allergies, my wife Michelle and I have had to learn to cook differently over the last two years. Since we love to cook and almost never eat out, this became a little difficult. Over those two years we have amassed a good number of great recipes. After a while we thought that we should share these with others. That is how Intolerant OffspringIntolerant Offspring was born.

erev rosh hashana internet minyanThis Erev Rosh HaShanahErev Rosh HaShanah I wasn't at ShulShul but I was at Shul. At least it felt like I was.

I'm not the greatest shul go-er but when I found out that AlythAlyth would be doing a live stream of their service over the Internet I just knew that was for me.

The idea of joining a service over the Internet may not appeal to everyone but as someone who spends their life online it was perfect for me.

Looking for something sticky and sweet

Attention: open in a new window. PDF | Print | E-mail Fri 18 Sep 09 10:27 Across the globe Brian Teeman

shana tova - a happy and sweet new yearSome of you may know that I am Jewish and that I have built many web sites for Jewish communities, charities and youth clubs here in the UK.

As in many small communities there is an element of "they have a new web site, why don't we?"

Now I might have claimed to have built many of these Jewish web sites but it's amazing how many are now using Joomla.

I even heard one Rabbi referring it to "Jewmla" assuming that it was software specificaly written for synagogues.

Inspired, copied or plain stolen...

... the sad but true story of a developer who stole from another developer and got caught.

joomlart stole code from rocketthemeIf you ask two chefs to write a recipe for roast chicken you will get two different recipes but the chicken "might" taste similar.

If you ask two artists to paint your portrait you will get two different paintings but they will "look" similar.

If you ask two joomla developers to create a basic weather module you will get two different modules but they will both "show" the weather.

Or so you might think.

Joomla is Multi-lingual but is it International

Attention: open in a new window. PDF | Print | E-mail Tue 15 Sep 09 23:58 Across the globe Brian Teeman

joomla is available in many languagesThis is a question that I've pondered for a long time and this is about the fourth time I have sat down to write.

Joomla is rightly very proud of the number of languages that it is available in, there cannot be many Open source projects that offer the same range, almost 60 at the last count.

Yet joomla.org is exclusively in English.
